Another TikTok feature has been added. What is TikTok Now, another app competing with TikTok, is particularly interesting because it’s a clone of BeReal, another app actively stealing attention from TikTok. In addition, TikTok recently spun off TikTok Now into its own app. Everything you need to know is right here.
TikTok Now: What is it?
TikTok launched a new feature in September 2022 that is basically a copy of BeReal, a popular French social media network.
In order to present or capture a more realistic view of their day, BeReal encourages users to take a front and back camera photo at random times throughout the day. It works very similarly to TikTok Now. With TikTok Now, “you and your friends can capture what you’re doing in the moment using your device’s front and back cameras”. A daily notification will prompt you to capture a video or a photo to quickly share what you’re doing.
A week after launching TikTok Now, TikTok rolled out the feature across global markets outside the US as a standalone app.
What is TikTok Now?
The new feature of TikTok Now
US users can use TikTok Now. A “Now” button has been added to the bottom navigation bar, next to the posting button, as you can see from the press images. To see TikTok Nows – or, as TikTok called it, “a daily photo and video experience” – from “people who matter most”, tap the Now button (lightning icon). To easily share what you’re up to, you’ll receive a daily prompt to take a 10-second video or a static photo.
There are a few privacy features available on What is TikTok Now and Users must be 18 to share their TikTok Now posts on the Explore Feed. You can only comment on your posts if you follow people who follow you back. Unless you change your settings to share with the public, your posts will be visible only to your friends, even if you are 18 or older.
The app TikTok Now
In the coming weeks, TikTok will experiment with TikTok Now.
TikTok Now is now available outside the US as a new TikTok Now app. The app works much like TikTok Now, which is currently baked into the TikTok app in the US. As a separate mobile app, it allows users to opt-in to receive push notifications for check-ins, which is handy if you want your TikTok app notifications to be silent but want to be alerted of new Nows. With alert emojis, BeReal notifies its users that “it’s time to BeReal”. Lightning emojis alert users of TikTok Now’s “Time to Now” notification.
Those under 16 who register for a standalone TikTok Now app will have their accounts set to private by default. Apart from that, TikTok Now’s privacy features are the same as those of the app.
TikTok Now is available where?
